Hardware Requirements

1. Computer.
   
   • Macintosh

     • Bare Minimum:

       • G3 processor
       • 64 MB of RAM
       • Mac OS 9.3.3 or higher.
         (Note: We no longer support MAC OS 7.x - 9.x)
     • Resnet Recommended:
       • G5 processor or higher
       • 1000 MHz or higher processor clock speed
       • 512 MB of RAM
       • Mac OS X or higher
   • PC Compatible Computer
     • Bare Minimum:
       • At least a Pentium III processor or equivalent
       • 500 MHz  processor clock speed
       • 128 MB of RAM
       • Windows 98                                                                                    (Note: We no longer support Windows 98, 98se, or Me)
     • Resnet Recommended:
       • Pentium 4 processor or equivalent
       • 1.4 GHz or higher processor clock speed
       • 512 MB of RAM or more
       • Windows XP with SP2
2. Ethernet Card and cable.
   
   • 10 Base-T compatible ethernet card.
   • Category 5 (Cat-5) ethernet cable.
     You will need a long enough ethernet cable to reach from your room's ethernet ports to your computer, usually from 10' to 25'.

Software Requirements

1. The latest patches or updates for your operating system.

2. Anti-virus software with the latest updates
   Resnet recommend the following anti-virus software:
   • McAfee Virus Scanner
   • Norton Antivirus
   Note: neither Resnet nor the University of California endorses any of the above products.  ResNet does, however, provide McAfee Enterprise 8.0 for free to all UCI residents.
